FIGURAS STREET, BETWEEN LEALTAD & ESCOBAR, CENTRO HABANA, HAVANA
In June 2010, Proyecto Espacios, which was founded and led by the architect Vilma Bartolomé as an interdisciplinary team of architecture, design and art, took on the challenge of fully producing its own projects. That's how Factoría Espacios was born, by turning an old workshop from the neighborhood of Los Sitios into a creative industry building.
Factoría Espacios, with the help of the Cuban Fund for Cultural Property (Fondo Cubano de Bienes Culturales), has throughout these years produced and executed projects of great cultural, economic and social importance. The best evidence of its work are the Great Theater from Havana, the Enguayabera Cultural Center in Alamar, the works for the Historian's Office and for the Tourism Ministry, and the different design acknowledgements and awards obtained by Factoría Espacios.

It has been and still is committed to creating high-quality native products, in Cuba, by recovering crafting abilities and knowledge; it is devoted to overcoming limitations through the collective intelligence of architects, designers, craftsmen, operators, managers, students, all of them apprentices; and it is dedicated to offering training and employment at this place that works as some sort of mixture between a lab and a school.
